Matthew Ventura, PhD
Chief Assessment Officer
Matthew Ventura is a learning scientist with 20+ years of experience at the intersection of education, technology, and assessment. He has led large-scale R&D initiatives with global tech firms and higher ed institutions, managing cross-functional teams to develop AI-driven learning tools and next-gen assessments.
With over 70 publications, Matthew brings deep expertise in research design, AI, assessment, learning design, and program evaluation. Matthew has held positions across the industry including Pearson, ETS, FSU, WGU, and General Assembly. Matthew currently consults on AI, data, and assessment strategy. He holds a Ph.D. in Cognitive Psychology from the University of Memphis.
Dan Gurin
Software Developer & Technologist
Dan Gurin is a skilled software developer and technologist, particularly well-known for his contributions to the Drupal open-source content management framework and his activity within the broader development community. He is currently based in Asheville, North Carolina, United States.
Key expertise: Drupal development — building, architecting, and maintaining Drupal sites, including for government organizations. Single Sign-On (SSO) — implementation of secure SSO systems in Drupal environments, often with technologies like SimpleSAMLphp. Open source community — active, long-time member of the Stack Exchange network, contributing to Stack Overflow and Drupal Answers for over nine years, with deep knowledge in PHP, string manipulation, and tools such as DDEV and Redis.
Dan has worked as an engineer with CivicActions, a company that utilizes open-source technologies, agile practices, and human-centered design to help government agencies deliver digital services. He has presented at major community events, including "Single Sign On SSO SOS with SimpleSAMLphp" at DrupalCamp Atlanta (DCATL 2018) and SSO with Drupal at DrupalGovCon 2019.
